Over 1000 Galway children waiting for initial medical assessments

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Over 1000 Galway children are waiting for initial medical assessments in the public healthcare system.

That's according to Sinn Féin city councillor Mairead Farrell.

She claims that Fianna Fáil has voted against its own manifesto pledge to restore cuts to resource hours.

Fianna Fáil has voted against a Sinn Féin’s amendment to a motion on Special Education in the Dáil.

Sinn Féin claims the amendment would have reversed a cut to special needs resource hours and increased funding to early intervention and school-age mental health and disability teams.

Councillor Mairead Farrell says a recent parliamentary question has revealed over 1000 Galway children are awaiting occupational therapy, psychology and speech therapy.
