Both Killererin & An Cheathru Rua, the two sides relegated from Intermediate to Junior level last year, will look to take the next step at an immediate return this Sunday when the clubs go head-to-head in the 2024 Primary Junior Football County Final in Tuam Stadium at 11:45. The game is the curtain-raiser to the senior county final between Corofin and Maigh Cuilinn. Whoever wins on Sunday will represent Galway in the Connacht Junior Club Championship in two weeks against the Mayo champions (either Cill Chomain or Bonniconlon) and the winner will also play either Tuam Stars or Salthill Knocknacarra in the Intermediate Promotion final next weekend. The Primary Junior 2 final between Tuam Stars and Salthill Knocknacarra is on tomorrow at 3.30 pm in Monivea.
Killererin booked their place in the Primary Junior Final after defeating Headford in the North Board Final 1-12 to 0-10. The following day An Cheathru Rua were convincing winners over Carna-Caiseal in the West Board Primary Junior Championship decider with a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-06. Ironically, 25 years ago, Killererin and An Cheathru Rua met in the 1999 Galway Senior Football final, when Killererin prevailed after a replay 1-12 to 1-08.
