Galway v Armagh to start National Football League under lights in Pearse Stadium

Galway footballers will start their 2025 National League campaign at home to Armagh under the new lights in Pearse Stadium on Saturday night, January 25th according to the list of draft fixtures circulated to counties for consideration this week. In what will be a repeat of their All-Ireland final meeting in 2024, the fixture is seen as the ideal one to kickstart a new era of floodlit GAA games at the Salthill venue. The following day, January 26th, the Galway hurlers will start their league campaign at home to Tipperary in what will be Micheal Donoghue's first game in charge since he took over the Galway senior team for the second time in September.

The following weekend, Feb 2nd, Galway footballers will take on Mayo in Castlebar in Round 2 of the league, with the hurlers away to Kilkenny. The rest of the National Football League includes games away to Derry, at home to Donegal and Tyrone, away to Dublin and finally at home to Kerry. The hurlers are set to be at home to Clare in Round 3, followed by three away trips to Wexford, Limerick and Cork, a fact that is sure to be challenged by Galway before the fixtures are officially released after Nov 14th.

The Special GAA Congress on Nov 30th will decide if the new football rules put forward by the GAA Central Council will be used in the National League.
