It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy McAleer, who peacefully departed this world surrounded by her loving family at her home in Oughterard. Born in Moycullen, Nancy’s journey was marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family and community.

After pursuing her calling, Nancy trained as a nurse and later chose Oughterard as her home, where she not only raised her family but also served as the local nurse for many years. Her commitment to caring for the people of Oughterard left an indelible mark, and her impact on the lives she touched will forever be remembered.

Nancy was a remarkable woman, known for her intense love and affection, particularly for her recently departed husband Peter and her cherished children Dara, Barney, and Aoife. Her loyalty to family and friends was unwavering, making her a valued confidante and friend to many throughout her life.

Nancy is reunited in memory with her late brother George and left to cherish her memory are her sisters Margaret, Isabel, and Bernie, who mourn the loss of a sister, friend, and lifelong companion. Nancy’s legacy extends to her seven grandsons Paddy, Tom, Joe, Charlie, Luke, Ben and Bobby, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her daughters-in-law Sarah and Edythe, and son-in-law David, fondly recall shared moments with Nancy, often accompanied by a glass of wine, creating cherished memories that will endure.

Nancy will be dearly missed by her sister in law, nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives, all of whom played significant roles in her life. As we bid farewell to Nancy, let us remember her zest for life, her quick and mischievous wit, her fierce strength of character and above all, her enduring loyalty. In our hearts, her spirit lives on, and we find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
