The death has occurred of Ken Bruen, Waterlane and formerly of Eyre Square and Newcastle, Galway.

Ken Bruen (Writer), died on the 29th March 2025 in University Hospital Galway. Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Inez, brothers Noel and Declan and sister Jess. Will be always missed by his loving wife Philomena and daughter Grace, relatives, neighbours, his dedicated Jack Taylor readers and his many friends.

May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing in Irwin’s Funeral Home, Bóthar Irwin (H91 CK84), on Wednesday the 2nd of April from 5:30pm. Removal at 7:30pm to St. Patrick’s Church, Forster Street. Ken’s Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday the 3rd of April at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to The New Cemetery Bohermore.

No flowers or cards please.

My condolences to Ken’s family I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times on my triips home to Ireland I live in Canada met him at St Nickolas church & Charlie Byrne’s book store as recently as this February, he was a lovely man and always took time to have a chat, I’ve read all his books on Jack Taylor and he signed copies to my son Chris & I. RIP.
