It is with deepest sorrow that Derry’s wife Margaret and their family share the news of his death at home on December 5, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas (Tommy) and Mary (Molly) O’Dowd, his brothers Dan and Benny, and his baby daughter.

Deeply loved and mourned by Margaret and their heartbroken children Siobhán, Colin, Aisling and Robin, son-in-law Giovani, daughters-in-law Yvonne and Caroline, adored grandchildren Jamie, Dylan, Jade, Ciarán, Éabha, Julie and Eve, great-granddaughter Lily, and by the extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends in Galway, Athlone, and all around the world.

Derry will repose at home in Pollnarooma West (H91VF1W) on Friday evening , 8 December from 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Removal from his home on Saturday morning to arrive at the Church of the Risen Christ, Ballybay, Kiltoom, Athlone, Co. Roscommon (N37 NY36) at 10.45 a.m. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Derry at 11 a.m. and following Mass he will be laid to rest with his family in Kiltoom cemetery.
