A static speed safety camera is now in operation on the N59 between Moycullen and the city.
It's placed at Aubwee, and the location was chosen based on data related to speed, and fatal and serious injury collissions.
Vehicles detected travelling over the 100 kilometre an hour speed limit will be subject to a Fixed Charge Notice, resulting in a 160 euro fine and three penalty points.
Gardaí have invested in several of these speed detection infrastructure in recent months.
