An Garda Síochana is hopeful that a static speed safety camera will be operational on the N59 before the end of the year.
The stretch of road between Moycullen and Galway city was one of nine locations announced earlier this year.
Site visits and partnership engagement are ongoing to progress the engineering for the installation of the cameras.
Two locations will be operational by this Friday - the N5 in Swinford, Mayo, and the N3 in Cavan
