Connemara South Councillor says Fine Gael election promise is an insult to family businesses

The Government abandoned the hospitality sector by leaving the VAT rate at 13.5%.

That’s according to Connemara South councillor Noel Thomas, who says there is a total lack of understanding of how stressful it is for family businesses.

It comes after Fine Gael pledged to cut the VAT rate for the hospitality sector to 11 per cent as part of their new election promise.

Councillor Thomas says this is an insult to family businesses.

The Independent Ireland councillor believes family businesses are essential to rural Irish life.
