COMMUNITY GAMES: Galway Competitions In Full Swing This June

The Community Games County Athletics Finals take place this Sunday (4th June) in Ballindeereen GAA and Community Pitch with the opening ceremony from 10.15am.

Meanwhile, the county team competitions are progressing the month with areas looking to secure their place in the Connacht Finals in Mayo on July 22nd.

It’s that time of the year again when Community  Games activities are at fever pitch.  

The County Final of the Athletic events, Track and Field takes place on Sunday next, in Ballinderreen GAA and Community Pitch.

The Team County Competition is also getting underway, in Gaelic, Camogie, Hurling, Soccer, Rugby, Draughts,  Art, Handwriting, Quiz, etc.

Galway Community wish all the young competitors the Best of Luck and hope they enjoy particiapting with Community Games.

Last weekend, the second Round of the Nationals Finals took place in Gormanstown College.

Galway had two Teams competing with the Oranmore/Maree U/16 Girls being pipped at the post by old rivals, CastleIsland, bringing home the National Silver Medals.

The Boys U/13 Basketball Team, also from Oranmore/Maree won the National Bronze Medal.

In the Cycling Event Galway had 3 Competitors.   This was a tough competition in all age Groups, Danny Crossford from Moylough/Mountbellew won the silver in a tight finish.  

Also from Moylough/Mountbellew, Leah Gavin won Bronze, while Colm Frehill from Ballinderreen just finished outside the Medal placings.

Galway Community Games are super proud of all their achievements.
