O’ Cuiv demands action on “cruel” conditions of Traveller accommodation

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Another long, cold winter has passed by – and members of the Traveller community are still living in substandard caravans and mobile homes.

That’s according to Galway West Deputy, Eamon O’ Cuiv.

Speaking in the Dáil, he once agained raised questions about the Government’s Caravan Loan Scheme, which he described as totally inadequate.

The Fianna Fail TD said due to limitations, it’s reached just a “tiny fraction” of the Traveller community who urgently need proper accommodation.

Speaking in response, Tanaiste Micheal Martin agreed the scheme needs to be better.
