Galway Bay fm newsroom – Coastal searches have continued for a third day today in connection with two incidents reported on Thursday evening

A young man, who’s in his thirties, was seen entering the water at Wolfe Tone Bridge at 6.30 on Thurs evening.

Gardaí and the coastguard helicopter were immediately deployed to Galway Docks and the Claddagh but the man was not found

Later that night at 10 another search was carried out near Mutton Island following reports that a person had been heard calling for help in the area but no one was found

So far the extensive searches have yielded nothing

The newly established Oranmore Maree coastal search unit is involved in the searches

They are asking for as many volunteers as possible to gather at Maree community centre at noon tomorrow as there’s a low tide promised
