Trial for city centre jewellery shop robbery gets underway

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The trial of a man charged with the robbery of almost €1.1 million worth of jewellery from a city jewellers has opened before a jury at Galway Circuit Criminal Court.

38-year-old Irmantas Paulauskas, pleaded not guilty to the robbery of diamond rings and Rolex watches from Richard Hartmann, 29 William Street, on February 11th 2015.

He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of having a imitation pistol, with silencer fitted, in his possession at the time with intent to commit robbery.

A jury of eleven men and one woman was empanelled today to hear evidence in the trial which is expected to last two weeks.
