Galway Bay fm newsroom – Unemployment across the city and county fell by 10% over the last month.
There is now a total of just over 16 thousand 300 people on the Live Register across Galway.
That’s a decrease of over 12 percent on this time last year.
Last month the biggest drop in unemployment was in the city where the Live Register decreased by 1069.
That leaves an unemployment figure of just over 8,300 in the city.
There was also a drop in Tuam, where 252 people came off the Live Register in September, leaving its jobless figure at 2,453.
197 people came off the Live Register in Loughrea last month, leaving its unemployed figure at 1,722.
In Ballinasloe, 176 less people signed on last month, meaning there are now 1,881 people out of work in the town and its environs.
Clifden saw 100 people come off the Live Register in September, leaving 813 people on its unemployment list.
Gort saw the smallest decrease in unemployment last month – 46 people came off the Live Register, leaving Gort’s jobless figure at 1,113.
