Residents block meter installation at city estate amid sewage concerns
GBFM NewsUncategorized
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Concerned residents are preventing a contractor from installing water meters at a city estate.
Residents at Sandyvale Lawn claim that no consultation was carried out prior to the installation work and they’re concerned about sewage problems.
The estate is built on a swamp and residents claim that Irish Water instructed the contractor to carry out a ground assessment.
They say that this assessment was not undertaken and workers turned up this morning to install meters.
Councillor Catherine Connolly, who joined the residents of Sandyvale today says Irish Water has failed to engage.
