Neil Molloy, Galway Bay FM Breakfast Show Presenter, Actor , TV personality, Comedian to many! A native of Attymon, Athenry, Neil (AKA ‘Molly’) worked his first night as a DJ at age 16yrs and by age 18 yrs, was Resident DJ in a top local nightspot. Neil’s greatest love is Radio and had his introduction to local radio with his first Galway Bay FM radio show 18 years ago. His first record was Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ and his collection has been growing since. Neil has since worked with Clare FM and RTE and is delighted to be back where it all began.
Neil has featured prominently on RTE’s ‘Republic of Telly’ as their ‘Western Correspondent’, a certain ‘Martin Muff’. He has also featured in many Dramas and Musicals as a leading player with Athenry Drama Group, Athenry Musical Society and several Town Hall Theatre and Fringe Festival Productions. Who can forget his performance in last year’s highly-acclaimed ‘Radio Luxembourg’ Production with Truman Town Theatre.
Neil’s broadcasting style is one of high energy and comedy and he likes to engage as much as possible with his listeners. Early evidence of this was provided by his hilarious youtube clips known to many. His creative streak continues to be evidenced in the current Breakfast Show Comedy Sketches written and performed by Neil and colleague Ollie Turner. Galway City and County wakes-up weekdays from 6:30 – 7am with Molly’s Roll Call where Neil gives a big shout- out to the early risers who check in on their Facebook page.
When not working Neil loves to keep in shape by regular Gym workouts and for less-strenuous relaxation, attending Comedy gigs and reading ‘Hotpress’ feature strongly.
Neil believes Galway’s worldwide reputation as a fun, vibrant and cultured location is reflected in the ethos he brings to his Breakfast Show. He strives to communicate this sense of fun and vibrancy through the airwaves to his increasing listenership and looks forward to his daily 4.30am alarm-call. Not many can truthfully say that but then again, not many are working in their dream career!
