Galway Bay fm newsroom – Youth unemployment across Galway has more than halved over the past five years.
There are currently just over 1,700 people under the age of 25 signing on the Live Register in the city and county.
This is down from over 4,100 in 2011, according to data from the Central Statistics Office.
The Youth Council of Ireland says nationally, youth unemployment hit an all-time high of over 31 percent in February 2012.
However, the number of young people who remain out of work still stands at just over twice the pre-crisis rate of 9 percent recorded in 2007.
