HIQA to draft national standards after Galway maternity investigation

Galway Bay fm newsroom – HIQA has launched an 8 week public consultation process on new draft national standards for safer, better maternity services.
It follows a review of maternity services in Galway University Hospitals group in 2013 and Portlaoise last year.
Both investigations identified the need for a national maternity services strategy.
This is the first service-specific standards developed by The Health Information and Quality Authority.
