Galway will face Roscommon in the FBD League final for the fourth year in a row after they defeated Leitrim by 3-6 to 0-8 in Clonbur yesterday and Roscommon beat Mayo in Hyde Park by 0-14 to 0-11. First half goals by Dessie Conneely (2) and a Robert Finnerty penalty gave Galway a 3-3 to 0-7 half time lead over Leitrim after playing into a strong wind. In desperate conditions, Leitrim could only manage 1 point in the second half as Galway registered points from David Wynne (0-1) and Johnny Heaney (0-2) to ease to a 7 point win. The win follows Galway's 1-10 to 1-9 win over Mayo in Castlebar on Friday night so with 6 points out of 6 they qualify for the final against Roscommon on the 18th of February. Next Sunday's round 5 clash with Roscommon is still scheduled to go ahead in Tuam Stadium despite the tie having no consequence to the final standings.
