Galway Bay fm newsroom – Four men who robbed a city centre jewellers last year have been sentenced to 8 and 14 years in prison.
Three of the Lituanian gang pleaded guilty to the robbery at Hartmann’s jewellers while a fourth man pleaded not guilty.
The three who pleaded guilty have been given 8 year prison sentences each, while the fourth man who was found guilty by a jury has been given a 14-year sentence.
Appearing for sentence before Galway Circuit Criminal Court today were 37-year old- Saulius Repecka, 36 year old Erikas Matusevicius and 29-year-old Vaidas Pinelis.
All three had pleaded guilty to involvement in the robbery of more than a million euro worth of diamond rings and Rolex watches from Hartmaan jewellers on February 11th last year.
The three men were each given an 8-year sentence by Judge Rory McCabe, who took account of their early plea and expressions of remorse.
The fourth man, 38-year old, Irmantas Paulauskas denied involvement in the robbery, including having an imitation pistol with a silencer.
However a jury found him guilty this week.
Today Paulauskas was handed down a 14-year prison sentence at Galway Circuit Criminal Court.
