Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Fire Service is warning landowners to stop burning scrub as gorse fires got out of control over the weekend across the county.
Fire crews tackled blazes in Loughrea, Clifden, Costello Connemara, Tuam, Gort and Baile na hAbhann over the weekend.
Carraroe fire brigade has been at the scene of a gorse fire in the area nearly all weekend with the crew getting very little sleep.
All fires have been brought under control this morning but the fire service is asking people to desist from burning scrub during the periods of fine weather as it's putting undue pressure on fire fighters.
