Dublin brothers charged with Loughrea and Athenry burglaries

Galway Bay Fm newsroom- Two Dublin brothers, one 20 and the other 18, have been charged in connection with a number of recent burglaries in the Loughrea and Athenry areas.

The two were taken before a special sitting of Ennis District court earlier today.

They were charged with a burglary at Kincullia, Loughrea on August 14th and also with a burglary at Abbeyglynn, Athenry on August 25th as well as with an attempted burglary at Caherlavine, Loughrea on August 25th.

The two brothers were arrested last Friday and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Shannon Garda Station.

They were questioned in relation to a spate of burglaries in the western Garda region.

The two Dublin brothers were remanded on bail, with a numbr of very strict conditions, to appear again before Ennis District Court next Wednesday.

The arrests and court appearance followed extensive investigations by Gardai and detectives in the western region regarding criminal gangs from the east of the country using the motorway network to target homes and businesses in Connacht.
