Druid sweeps the boards at Irish Theatre Awards

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Druid Theatre swept the boards at the Irish Times Theatre Awards last night. (6/3)
DruidShakespeare was nominated in 10 categories and secured 5 awards at the ceremony at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
Directed by Garry Hynes, in a new adaptation by Mark Rowe, it received the coveted Best Production Award.
Garry Hynes received the Best Director award while Derbhle Crotty won Best Actress as King Henry IV in DruidShakespeare.
Marty Rea took home the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Richard II in the production.
Druid’s creative team of Doreen McKenna and Francis O Connor won Best Costume Design for DruidShakespeare.
