Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway’s canals could be used to generate enough electricity to power half of city’s street lights.

That’s according to Fine Gael city councillor Frank Fahy.

A 40 thousand euro study of the city waterways is currently underway to determine how the amenity could be best used.

The draft study is to go back before a board of trustees this year, and a full report will then be brought before the local authority.
