City man to stand as independent in upcoming general election

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A city man has announced he will contest the upcoming General Election in the Galway West/South Mayo constituency.

Salthill resident Tommy Roddy will run as an independent candidate and he claims it’s the only real option given the current condition of Irish politics.

He says it’s easy to understand peoples’ disillusionment as the country faces a number of crises including the health service, homelessness and water charges.

Mr. Roddy has lived in Salthill for over 30 years and works closely with a range of community groups.

Tommy Roddy says that running as an independent will give him a far stronger voice in politics.
