Candlelit vigil to commemorate death of Savita Halappanavar

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A candlelight vigil in rememberence of Savita Halappanavar will take place in the city this evening. (28/10)
The event is organised by Galway-Pro Choice to commemorate the third anniversary of the Indian dentist’s death at University Hospital Galway.
The memorial event will include a photo display and members of the public are being invited to leave written messages for presentation to Savita’s family.
31 year old Savita died from septicaemia on the 28th of October 2012, seven days after being admitted to UHG.
An inquest at the Coroners court was told the miscarriage of her baby was a contributory factor in Savita’s death.
Her husband has always maintained that his wife repeatedly requested a termination in the hospital.
The candlelight vigil will take place at Eyre Square this evening at 6.
