80 thousand people expected to attend Ballinasloe Horse Fair

Galway Bay Fm newsroom – Over 80 thousand people are expected to descend on Ballinasloe over the coming week for the world famous Ballinasloe Horse Fair which starts tomorroe (Sunday 4/10)
The annual festival, which is the oldest of its kind in Europe, will feature eight days of entertainment, music and equine events.
The event is worth about eight million euro to the local economy.
Country music star Mike Denver will officially open the fair at 3 tomorrow afternoon at the Fairgreen.
Organiser Niall Clarke says the event provides a great boost for the town and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile Road closures will come into effect around the town from 8 this evening to facilitate the Horse Fair.
